7:00am–9:00am Canadian Gaming Summit Opening Breakfast & Keynote

9:15am–10:05am Crisis Management

At one time or another, every gaming organization will need to respond to a crisis, one which can vary wildly in form in nature. We rightfully focus on a crisis in terms of its impact on people, operations, facilities, systems and revenues. However, if these matters are handled badly, the reputation of the business can also suffer irrevocable harm. The purpose of this session is to discuss how best to prepare for and respond to a crisis by means of using real world situations.

Presented by:
David Dooley – Director of Security, CasinoRama

Monica Banda – Security Manager, Caesars Windsor

10:15am–11:05am Labour Disruption Contingency Planning

In spite of everyone’s best efforts, there will be times when labour and management can simply not find common ground. When that occurs, labour may choose to withdraw its services. The withdrawal of those services can have a very significant impact on gaming operations depending upon the scope and timing. Being ready for the withdrawal of services in general and on a case by case basis will be the subject of this session.

Presented by:
Jim Rovers – National VP, Sales and Marketing, AFI Inernational

11:15am–12:05pm Keeping Dirty Money Off The Table: Changes to Casino Anti-Money Laundering Obligations

A number of changes to Canada's anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing laws came into force June 2008 and further changes for the gaming industry will take effect in September 2009. What should casinos be doing? Derek's presentation will discuss the amendments and FINTRAC's expectations. He will also provide an overview of the results of FINTRAC's recent casino reviews and the new requirement to file Casino Disbursement Reports.

9:45am–10:35am Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design

Providing a safe and secure environment for employees, patrons, contractors and guests to our properties is both labour intensive and expensive. However, these efforts can be more effective and efficient if good CPTED design concepts are designed in when building or renovating. To do this well at the outset can save a great deal down stream. This session will outline the design concepts and provide examples of how they can be applied in a gaming environment.

Presented by:
Gerry Boose–
