1:00pm-1:50pm Emerging Lottery Technology

Smart card technology and other devices like the internet lottery stick - used by the Hamburg Lottery - provide security and reliability. These products are setting a new standard for integrity and security of lottery products in Europe. The products link a lottery purchase directly to the individual player and can be used to retain important data such as frequently selected lottery numbers or the amount of money in which a player is betting and to provide lottery corporations with valuable information about lottery demographics. This session will outline the technology and various applications of smart cards and lottery sticks.

What constitutes a successful Responsible Gaming program has been, and will continue to be, debated for some time. However, from a communications point of view, the requirements for Responsible Gaming are becoming much clearer. The information that must be retrieved from the game such as the ability to identify the patron, and the ability to limit play are common features in all Responsible Gaming programs. This panel will try to get below the politics and preferences to discuss what the key pieces of information are part of all responsible gaming programs and to discuss the concept of, from a communications point of view, a set of global Responsible Gaming requirements.
