The Canadian Gaming Summit Awards Reception and Charity Gala has, since its inception 15 years ago, honoured achievements in industry leadership. Again this year, the event will benefit a deserving local charity. The 2nd Annual First Nation Canadian Gaming Awards will be presented at the Summit’s Canadian Gaming Industry Awards Gala. The First Nation Canadian Gaming Awards recognize the contributions of the First Nation casinos to the First Nations and their neighbouring communities. These awards will honour the accomplishments and contributions of people working within the industry and the continued development and improvements within the operations. The 2011 Canadian Gaming Industry Awards Reception and Charity Gala will benefit Special Olympics British Columbia. For 30 years, Special Olympics BC has been committed to enriching the lives of individuals with intellectual disabilities and, in turn, the lives of their family members, friends and everyone they’ve touched. Since its inception in 1980, that sense of purpose has not changed - and it will never change. Currently, Special Olympics BC provides high-quality sports programs and competitions that help people with intellectual disabilities celebrate personal achievement and gain confidence, skills and friendships. There are now more than 3,700 Special Olympics athletes participating in year-round programs in 18 sports in 55 communities around BC, supported by more than 2,600 dedicated volunteers. Through these year-round programs and local, provincial, national and international competitions, the athletes gain more than just physical benefits from improved health and athletic abilities. Through their participation, they develop social skills and friendships while experiencing the joy of achieving goals and increasing their self-esteem.

GALA ENTERTAINMENT - WAYNE BRADY

Emmy award winning Wayne Brady is one of the most versatile performers in show business today. He has been entertaining audiences for years with his acting, improv, singing, and dancing on television, film, and the stage.

In television, Brady has guest starred on The Dave Chappelle Show, 30 Rock, How I Met Your Mother, Dirt and Everybody Hates Chris. He became well known for his improvisational skills on ABC’s Whose Line Is It Anyway?, for which he won an Emmy and earned four Emmy nominations. Brady went on to host his own syndicated talk/variety show The Wayne Brady Show for two years, picking up two Emmys for Outstanding Talk Show Host and the show won an Emmy for Outstanding Talk Show. Brady also hosted Fox’s hit show Don’t Forget the Lyrics, and can currently be seen as the host of CBS’s revival of Let’s Make a Deal.

Brady made a big splash in Vegas with his hit stage show Makin It Up. The improv and musical extravaganza was met with critical acclaim and heralded as “pure genius,” “hysterically funny” and “amazing.” He has released his own musical album for Peak records, A Long Time Coming, which includes R& B and old school tracks, completed a run playing Billy Flynn in the Broadway production of Chicago, and has had numerous starring and supporting roles in film.
