While horse racing is enjoyed across the country and is hosted in 9 of the 10 provinces, the industry is largest in Ontario, which has more tracks hosting live horse racing and more race dates than in any other province. This year sees significant changes in horse racing in Ontario. A new industry representative is established for Standardbred racing. Industry support programs are being reviewed to ensure the future of the sport in Ontario. New opportunities for growth continue to be identified. At the same time, there is no lack of opinion on changes to the sport to ensure its future in Ontario.
The panelists will address how they think the industry is changing, what they think needs to be changed about the industry and what they think is needed, within reason, to move the industry to where it needs to go to ensure its health in Ontario, from their perspective as part of the industry.
